Delete your account

You can delete your Plai Date account at any time, from inside the app or by writing to us. This page explains exactly what happens, because “delete” should mean something specific rather than something reassuring.
In the app
Tap the G circle in the bottom bar → Account → Privacy, then choose to delete your account. You’ll be asked to confirm.
By email
If you no longer have the app installed, write to hello@plaidate.com from the address you can be reached at, and tell us the phone number your account uses. We will verify that the number is yours before deleting anything — otherwise anyone who knew your number could delete your account.
What happens, and when
Deletion is not instant, on purpose. There are two clocks.
- Your account: 30 days. Your account is closed immediately — you are signed out and nobody can reach you through Plai Date. For 30 days it can still be restored if you change your mind, or if it wasn’t you. After that it is permanently erased.
- A shared space: 7 days. A connection belongs to two people, so it doesn’t linger. It stops being active straight away and is removed after a week.
What is deleted
- Your profile: name, photo, phone number, and preferences.
- Photos and files you uploaded.
- Any text messages sent through our SMS bridge, including at our SMS provider.
- Everything our AI had learned about you. This is erased first, and if it fails the rest of the deletion stops and retries rather than proceeding without it.
- Your sign-in record, so the phone number is free to be used again.
What is kept, and why
Two things deliberately survive, and we would rather say so plainly than let you discover it.
- Messages you sent in a shared space stay in that space. A conversation belongs to both people. Deleting your account removes you — your name is reduced to a first name and everything else about you is stripped — but it does not reach into the other person’s history and remove their half of what you said to each other.
- Blocks and reports. These are kept against a one-way fingerprint of the phone number rather than against your account, precisely so they outlive it. If they were deleted, closing an account would silently unblock everyone who had blocked you — which would turn deletion into a way back in.
We may also retain information where the law requires it, for example under a preservation request.
Changing your mind
Within the 30 days, sign in again and you will be offered the chance to restore your account. After that, nothing can be recovered.
